Sterling's old red truck sits humbly alone
Feathers ruffled
Against the dampness of evening

Retirement

Headed for home
Rumbling down the short beach road
I break into a smile
As I turn south onto Highway 1
~
Tomorrow 
has no promises to keep
I called in well
To say
I'm taking the day off
